We distribute our virtual tabletop tokens, map tiles art asset packs, and adventure modules designed to work with the FoundryVTT application via a plugin called Moulinette. The plugin is free to use (unless you wish to use the Cloud Storage provided by Moulinette) and provides access to the material of many content creators. Although, like myself, you may need to be supporting those content creators on Patreon to gain full access to all of their creations.
I have created this tutorial to explain how to access Studio WyldFurr’s virtual tabletop token packs via the Moulinette plugins within FoundryVTT.
This tutorial assumes that you have already installed Moulinette and activated it, if you need help installing and activating Moulinette, please view our How to install Moulinette into FoundryVTT tutorial.
Accessing the Token Packs via Moulinette
Now that you have the Moulinette modules installed and activated, you can begin to access the Token Packs from Studio WyldFurr. The business end of Moulinette that we will be using the most is the Assets Browser, specificaly the Tiles/Tokens section where the Studio WyldFurr token packs can be found.
To open the Assets Browser, click on the button with the puzzle piece icon. This is the Tiles/Tokens module from Moulinette and powers the Tiles/Tokens section of the Assets Browser. From within this section of the Assets Browser you can search by keyword or search for a particular Studio WyldFurr pack via the drop-down menu.
The contents of the selected pack will be displayed in the middle of the panel.
At the bottom of the panel is a rather important pair of options. The first option selector determines how Moulinette will treat an asset when it is drag-n-dropped from the Asset Browser onto the scene map canvas. While the second option determines the grid size used for placed artwork.
The first option is rather simple, Drop as…
- Tile: The item will be dropped onto the scene map canvas as a map tile.
- Article: The item will be dropped as an article element.
- Token: The item will be placed as a token Actor and trigger the Actor intergration options panel.
When placing tokens onto the scene map canvas, the Drop as… option of Token must be selected.
The second option is the Grid size, for all Studio WyldFurr assets this must be set to 180 pixels.
Dropping a Token into a Scene
When Drop as… is set to Token and a token is dropped onto the map canvas, an options panel will appear giving you the chance to ether drop the token onto the map and create a new linked Actor, or to link the token to an already existing Actor.
- Create as a new token/actor: The token artwork will be placed onto the map and linked to a new actor, the type of actor is determined by those available in the ruleset employed for the game world (eg: Character, NPC, Hazzard, vehicle, etc).
- Reuse existing actor: The token art will be placed onto the map and linked to an already existing Actor. The Actor is selected from the drop down menu.
Once placed and linked to an actor, you can use the Blueprint Token options to control how the token is rendered. For specific setting on how to use Studio WyldFurr tokens in FoundryVTT, see our tutorial: Using Studio WyldFurr Tokens in Foundry Virtual Tabletop.
