The Panzerkampfwagen 38(t) was a Czech designed fighting vehicle that saw service during the Second World War. The tank was first developed as the LT vz. 38 for the Czechoslovak military and as an export product from CKD and the Skoda Works. Sadly the vehicle had not entered service with the Czech army before the German occupation. The Germans consequently confiscated all vehicles and in turn maintained production of the vehicle at the Skoda Works, issuing the vehicle as the LTM 38 to German Panzer units. The name was changed on the 16 January 1940 to Sd Kfz 140, or Panzerkampfwagen 38(t). The “t” stands for “tschechisch” the German word for Czechoslovakia.
